Que: I am 23 years old and for the past 5 years, I have been losing hair for the past 5 years or so. My hair has become really thin and I have like this white mud all over my scalp. This mud thing, I am unable to get rid of, even if I shampoo my hair. The only way out for me seems to shave my head. If I try to remove it with my hands or with a comb, 1000s of hair also come out. I have visited a few doctors, including those practising homeopathy, but to no avail.

Ans: Going by the photographs that you have sent, it looks like you have androgenetic alopecia. You can most certainly get your hair back with medical treatments with medications such as Finasteride and Minoxidil. Once the hair loss has stabilised, you can go in for a transplant. We would suggest that you meet a local doctor and get your scalp checked for dandruff as well.
