Que: I had my hair transplant exactly 4 months and 20 days back, but even after so many days, I am losing an average of 10 hair a day. I have been doing everything that my doctor asked me to, including taking my medication, applying oil on my hair, shampooing it off every morning, applying Rogain twice a day. I am also ensuring that I eat right, workout and not share my comb with anyone. I know that the hair that I am losing is not the transplanted ones, because they are thinner in nature. Do I need to be worried?

Ans: Each hair on the scalp goes through three phases – anagen, catagen and telogen. As and when the hair goes into the telogen phase, they tend to fall off, and this is natural. As a matter of fact, there are anywhere between 50 to 100 hair in the telogen phase, at any given time, which is why 100 hair falling every day is considered normal. So, there is little for you to worry about and you can continue with the treatments that the doctor has prescribed for you.
