Hair loss within 10 days of the transplant? Is that normal?

Que: I had my hair transplant, with 1500 grafts, just 10 days back and everything was going fine. Yesterday, I was gently scrubbing my head, and I noticed that several hair fell off, taking with them some crust. Although there was no bleeding, I am guessing almost half the transplanted hair have fallen out. I am worried!

Ans: Hair loss is normal post a hair transplant, and there is nothing to worry about it. Normally, the hair falls out within 2 to 3 weeks of the surgery, but in certain cases, the hair loss can start even earlier. There is absolutely nothing to worry about and you should be prepared to see the remaining hair also fall out. Once these have all fallen out, you will notice new hair growing in, which will be permanent.
